What are the roles of these ingredients?

  • Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) & Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) – Both of these are foaming and cleansing ingredients, and they are naturally derived from coconuts.
  • Coco-Glucoside – Natural cleanser from a coconut. A small percent used in our soap as a very efficient cleansing agent, and will make a difference of going one more day!
  • Aqua – Distilled Water.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa) & Sodium c14-16 Olefin Sulfonate – Both of these are another set of cleansing ingredients derived from coconut while creating a better lather.
    • ※Note: SLSa is chemically different from SLS and SLSa is not a sulfate.
  • Cetearyl Alcohol – This is derived from vegetables (we do not use synthetically made “c16-18” in our bars) and works as an emulsifier to keep all the ingredients together.
  • Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetyl Alcohol (and) Butylene Glycol – These combinations are used for conditioning properties.
    • Behentrimonium Methosulfate – Derived from the oil that comes from rapeseed.
    • Cetyl Alcohol – This ingredient derived from vegetable oil helps in spreading shampoo and conditioner bars easily.
    • Butylene Glycol - This ingredient is from distilled corn.
  • Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil) – This helps hair shine and coconut oil is one of the best oils for a natural moisturizer!
  • Hydrolyzed Quinoa – This is effective at nourishing hair for repair, hydration and shine. Quinoa is an effective protein as it has all 8 of the essential amino acids, which is rare for vegetable proteins. Also great for coloured hair.
  • Hydrolyzed Oats – Helps with moisture retention and reduces frizzy hair!
  • Kaolin (Clay) – Helps clean scalp without drying.
  • Sodium Lactate – This is a liquid salt produced by fermentation of sugar sources (such as corn or beets) and neutralizing the resulting lactic acid (lactic acid is naturally occurring and produced by our bodies as well). This increases hair volume while keeping our bar its shape.
  • Diheptyl Succinate (and) Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer – This is a natural alternative to silicone and ecocert approved (Sustainable and Biodegradable). Helps to leave hair non-greasy.
  • DL-Panthenol (Pro-vitamin B5) – This is an essential ingredient for shampoo/conditioner, and one that makes hair bars ideal as hair can more effectively absorb it in this solid form, opposed to diluted in liquid shampoo. This ingredient helps with hydration, enhances shine, smooths hair and discourages knots.
  • Benzyl Alcohol (and) Salicylic Acid (and) Glycerin (and) Sorbic Acid (natural preservative) – These combinations protect and preserve the bar.
  • Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) fruit – A core oil in the hair bars. It is a more sustainable oil choice (compared to palm oil) as the shea trees can produce for 200 years and it’s regulated territory in Africa, so it does not affect the environment or the people. Our bars use unrefined form which holds much more of its vitamins (A, E, F), antioxidants and fatty acids - which help with hydrating and free radical damage.
  • Lactobacillus/Arundinaria Gigantea Ferment Filtrate – This is a natural silica, and an alternative to silicone. It will help smoothing out the hair and eliminate tangles. It also can improve the capability of combining other ingredients.
  • Glycerine – This is derived from vegetable and its role is a natural humectant and moisturizer (attracts and absorbs moisture to the skin)
